Ludonarrative is a website dedicated to thinking and talking about play. Games are an incredible medium for storytelling, expression, and community, all because of that interactive element. How a game engages with its player tells its own story (“ludic” meaning play, “narrative” meaning story), as does the decisions a player makes when pressing buttons.

Here at Ludonarrative we will aim to provide you with thoughtful but playful criticism and analysis of video games. There will be a focus, but not exclusively, on handheld games and devices. There will be a mix of essays, reviews of new releases, and “retro reviews”, or looks back at games that have left the zeitgeist of the moment.

Unless otherwise noted, all games covered were purchased by the writer with their own funds and there is no sponsorship involved.
